Singing Competition

I just competed in a singing contest.  I was kinda nervous.  I mean, I actually only just sang in front of my family last week for the first time and then practiced once on Tuesday.  I was nervous, but I did it and guess what!  I WON!!!  I can't believe it.  I received a money prize and it was neat to see the Judges comments after the show.  One of the comments was they were surprised when I started singing.  The other singers did a great job and it was nice to meet all of the members of the Nebraska Country Music Foundation and they were all proud of me.  I can't wait til I get to sing again and see everyone again!

My First Performance At The Bowling Alley

I just performed in front of people for the first time!  I went to York, Nebraska and sang in front of two people in the Lounge at the Sunset Bowling Alley.  I was nervous on the drive up there and dad kept asking how I was doing.  I said fine.  I was kinda nervous.

When we got there dad sad look there is only about 20-30 cars here and probably at the most it's only gonna be about 60 people and most of them will be bowling.  That made me feel better.  He said that there will probably be people in the bar drinking beer at the bar and they won't even know you are there so don't worry about anything.  He said they are just there to drink beer.  I thought that was funny.  Then dad said, "I bet when they hear your voice they turn around".  I asked why.  He said cuz your good!  That made me feel good

Ralph was there when we walked in and dad was right there were two guys in there drinking beer and one guy behind the bar.  Dad said we had to leave the bar before 9 so if I wanted to sing I better do it.  I was nervous but we walked over and talked to Ralph.  I forgot my camera so we had to go back out to the car.  Ralph probably thought we were chicken.  Anyways, when we walked back in we watched Ralph for a minute and clapped for him when he was done singing.  Then it was my turn...  Ralph started the music and all of the Butterflies went away and I did it!

Dad was right!  The two guys drinking beer turned around and they smiled.  I was singing "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus.  After I was done with that song they clapped.  So I sang again, and by the time we left last night there were about a dozen people watching me, smiling and clapping!  I felt so good.  I don't now what I was scared about.  It's fun to do something you love to do and make people happy doing that something.

I have a singing contest this week-end at the same place, so I can't wait.  Wish me luck, I'll let you know how I do.

My friend Lee Gibson

I just got done talking to a friend of mine on the phone a little while ago.  His name is Lee Gibson and he is from Nashville, TN.  If you have never heard of Lee Gibson, trust me when I say your missing out!  You will be hearing from him soon.  "His song Somewhere Other Than Here" ROCKS!  He is a very nice guy and he sings really well.  Here is a link to his website and a couple of his songs that you can comment on at Ourstage.com.  Lee just won the country category and a $1000.00 in January.

If I do I could be going to Texas and see him in person!  You also win a guitar!!!  Wish me Luck!!!  I'll find out one way or the other by this Friday.  There was a lot of really good entries though so I'm not holding my breathe.
